Hi guys, welcome to another brand new chapter of Mix Mania. Today I will be sharing a beautiful experience about how I felt when I watched this documentary called 'COSMOS - A Space time Odyssey'. So just to begin with, there are total two seasons of 'COSMOS' and each of them having 13 episodes. It has an IMDB rating of about 9.3 and is narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson.
Just how small are we in the universe -
Millions years ago life started as a single cell, then in the process of evolution, our ancestors used to live in caved and used stone tools some thousands years ago. How the thinking of this human from carving paintings on stone reached till Stars. The whole journey of our vast universe and it's evolution is shown in this one of the best tv shows that will blow your mind.
We are just among those small creatures that have dominated the earth and now started putting it's wings out and venturing the universe. But why did 'we' only able to do so and not any other creature? How did we become the strongest and dominating species of this planet? Well, all thanks to all the 'Scientists' we had in our history and in present. We are able to survive till now only because of those scientists or better to say the 'Scientific thinking' which we were able to develop. That's why we are still prevailing in this vast universe.
All the Scientists are the real heroes, but their thinking is sometimes not accepted by common people and because of this many of them suffer, tortured and many a times had been killed in our history, which really disturbs me and makes me sad.
Are we alone in this entire Cosmos and Vast Universe?
Just in some starry night go out and look towards the stars. Looking at those uncountable stars it will make you feel just how small are we in the universe, and will make you question that are we all alone in this incredibly vast universe? Is there possibility of life only on Earth or there are more possibilities?
A simple answer can be, there are more planets with possibility of life. There can be millions of planet in this vast universe with possibility of life. Even they can be more hospitable than earth and might be having a more advanced civilization living on them. Then why those civilization didn't tried to make a contact with us? There can be various reasons to this. One possible reason might be that they are contacting us but we humans from earth didn't developed that technology till now to understand or capture their message.
However, living as a alone planet with life, we humans had sent various messages in space, in the form of radio signal, electromagnetic waves and even spacecrafts, but didn't get any reply till now.
One such spacecraft sent by us was the Voyager-1.
Voyagers venturing the Vast Universe -
The last picture which it captured and sent back to earth was the picture of earth itself, when it was surpassing Pluto planet. The farthest picture of earth is popularly known as 'The Pale Blue Dot'.
Voyager 1 today is more than 23,804,736,016 kilometers away from earth equivalent to 159.124832 Astronomical Units.
Voyager 1 was carrying copy of golden records popularly know as 'Sounds of Earth'. It's really emotional to see when humans successfully complete their biggest task and how devoted those scientists and each and every person was in this Voyager mission. It had shown in the most incredible way in the series COSMOS.
The Pale Blue Dot -
On the request of Carl Sagan, everyone came to an agreement to let Voyager 1 capture one last image of Earth before it surpasses Pluto and venture into vast universe. This is that image. Zoom in near the arrow, the pale dot which you see is none other than our Earth. The farthest image of earth ever captured. This is just how small are we in the universe. One of the most emotional and most impactful speech by Carl Sagan comes up in the last episode of 1st season of COSMOS.
'At this point this Blue pale looking dot, is our home. Everything you know, everyone you heard and each and every human had lived up there lives here. All the Friends, enemies, every couple in love, mother and father, every corrupt politicians, every superstar and supreme leader, each and every poor and rich person had lived their lives on this mote of dust, suspended in space in a beam of sun. Just think of all that blood that spilled out by generals and emperors to become a momentary master of a fraction of this dot. The earth is our only known home till now and there is no other hospitable planet in the near future'.
These are some of his lines from his speech, which I remember and it had left a deep impact on me. It's more impactful than any other religious sayings or any speech by spiritual leader. It's just complete truth in the scientific point of view. Here you can listen to his complete speech-

Apart from Voyager 1 there's another really impactful space mission shown beautifully in the series, known as Cassini-Huygens space mission.
Cassini-Huygens space mission-
Cassini space program was launched be NASA, European space agency and Italian space agency in 1997. It's main objective was to study Saturn's ring. And it had done it's job perfectly. It was destroyed after almost 2 decades of its service by NASA. It was destroyed in order to prevent any kind of contamination on Saturn's moon because of the spacecraft.

Isn't that beautiful. Its absolutely inspirational, emotional and impactful when human efforts and their devotion reach these great heights. In order to develop and discover new things, it's most essential to look at things with scientific perspective and try to find evidence for its support, and reject those concepts and beliefs which don't have any scientific proofs and evidence. This is only right way of developing and discovering new homes in this vast universe.
In the end, concluding things what we should do is, to save this planet from ourselves. It's necessary to save this planet for our future kids so that they can also live their healthy lives here, because it's a hard truth that we don't have any other planet to rely upon in the near future. We can go to other planets, but can't survive there. So it's much essential to preserve our pale blue dot, because it's our one and only home for now. One such Netflix documentary was also there which talks beautifully about climate change and planet conservation. It's called 'Our Planet'. I had already discussed about it. It's also one of the best tv shows that will blow your mind.
So, hope you liked this one. Do share this as much as you can.
UNTIL THAN, SEE YOU GUYS IN THE NEXT ONE.
